Do Solar Panels Need Direct Sunlight to Work?

Solar panels do not need direct, bright sunlight to generate electricity. They generate power from light itself (intensity or brightness), which means they keep working even on cloudy days, in light shade, and during cooler seasons.

How Solar Panels Actually Generate Power

PowerMuster systems use TCL N-Type Bifacial solar panels, which convert light — not heat — into electricity. Each panel contains photovoltaic (PV) cells made from silicon. Think of it like getting sunburned on a cloudy day — UV light still reaches you through cloud cover. Solar panels capture that same diffuse energy.
